Sybil Ackerman
Executive Director

Sybil Ackerman has her J.D. and is certified in environmental law from Lewis and Clark Law School.  She also has a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.  Sybil worked for over a decade in various environmental nonprofits such as the National Wildlife Federation, the Sierra Club, and the Audubon Society of Portland. Sybil also spent a year with the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy researching corporate environmental policy making.  Immediately prior to her employment with the Lazar Foundation she was the Legislative Affairs Director for the Oregon League of Conservation Voters. 

Sybil also volunteers her time on important conservation issues.  For example, Governor Kulongoski appointed her to the Environmental Justice Task Force and the Nearshore Task Force for the State of Oregon between 2008 and 2010.  She currently serves on the Oregon Board of Forestry, sits on the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board as a Department of Forestry liaison, and is also a Trustee of the Karuna Foundation.
